What is OCR?

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) detects the locations and shapes of texts and then recognize characters in the texts. In the OCR-Box stage, the algorithm detects rotated bounding box of texts. Based on the results of OCR-Box stage, the algorithm recognizes printed characters for each detected text-boxes in the OCR-Text stage.

Workflow for Detection

The workflow of OCR is not much different from the basic's. Make sure you have first read Common workflow. This section offers only OCR -specific workflow.

1. Construct handles of model file and inspection results through OCR's handle construction.
2. N/A.
3. (Optional) Check Inspection options and set new values.
   • OCR's excluded characters
   • OCR's score threshold
   • OCR's area threshold
   • OCR's max inspection size
   • OCR's forward time limit
4. Allocate memory on cpu and gpu through Memory-allocation functions.
5. Inspect images through OCR's inspection functions.
6. Retrieve inspection results through OCR's inspection results.
7. Destruct handles of model file and inspection results through OCR's handle destruction.
